Following the narrow ridge in the mist and rain towards the summit of the GroBer Trogler. Standing at the cross at the summit of the Grober Trogler 2,902m in the clouds and rain, we didn't stop long before descending to the Dresdner Hutte. Our first view of the Dresdner Hutte appearing out of the mist as we descended from the Trogler.
The Dresdner Hutte 2,308m at the centre of a local ski resort below the peaks of Stubaier Wildspitze and Schaufelspitze. The GroBer Trogler, the centre peak, viewed next morning in the clearing mist from above the Dresdner Hutte. The Mutterberger See at 2,483m in the shifting morning mist.
Myself at Schafspitze 2,760m on path 138 on route between the Dresder and Neue Regensburger Hutte. Standing at the pass Grabagrubennieder 2,881m before descending the most dangerous stretch along the Stubaier Hohenweg, across the rubble left by the glacier Hochmoosferner. The steepest section descending to Hohes Moos left by the retreating glacier.
View looking up the cables and ladders across the scree field. Every 2 or 3 minutes we could see and hear rock falls around us. This was a place you wouldn't want to stop for a nice cup of tea. View looking back up the scree field to the pass at 2,881m, the glacier still just visible in patches beneath the scree field, which explained the unstable nature of the slope. Our first view of the Neue Regensburger Hutte, 2,287m in the clearing mist at the end of a very long days walk.
The next morning the weather cleared up. Looking back up the valley, the dangerous pass Grabagrubennieder is the saddle to the left of the picture. The Neue Regensberger Hutte overshadowed by Greitspitze 2,784m The path leading over the Schrimmennieder pass towards the Franz Senn Hutte.
